There are all kinds of vibrators out there: bullets and g-spot vibes and rabbits and you name it. A lot of toys fall neatly into one of these categories.
But Volta by FunFactory is something else altogether. This unique vibrator has two “lips” or “tongues” that transmit the powerful sensations in unique ways. This makes it a very versatile stimulator, great for clit and broad vaginal stimulation but also useful on other erogenous zones like nipples, or even a penis.
Volta is pretty damn powerful, and those two lips do an excellent job of transmitting the power wherever you want it to go. As a result it is a bit buzzy and flappy, although if you get creative and use more pressure you can feel the rumbly core vibrations.
It certainly is a novel vibrator – and not without its flaws – but all in all it’s pretty satisfying, and a fantastic choice if you’re looking for something a bit different.

- Unique sensations: between the powerful motor and tulip-like lips the Volta provides some unique sensations. It's closer in feeling to oral sex than most vibes, but still not quite the same.
- Power: the Volta is strong, and the vibrations transmit well through the silicone flaps.
- Versatile: it can be used on a wide variety of erogenous zones with good results. The two lips allow you to wrap around your clit for some enveloping vibrations.
- You'll need to experiment a bit with different power levels and placement of the flaps to find what works best for you.
- Might be a bit too powerful depending on the kind of stimulation you like. And for some ladies, it may simply be the wrong kind of clit stimulation.
- Takes a while to charge and has a shorter battery life than some more simple and straightforward vibrators.

Powerful and Versatile With Unique Stimulation
Volta by FunFactory is one of the more unique vibrators we’ve ever reviewed.
It’s interior is fairly standard – a powerful motor underneath a silicone exterior with multiple speeds and modes. What makes it unique is the way those silicone lips can be used for stimulation:
- Let the tips flutter and flap around the clit
- Press it deeper to envelop the clit and labia with broad vibrations
- Use it on nipples during foreplay
- Wrap it around the shaft or head of a penis
You technically *could* insert it for some vaginal play, but the lips are clearly designed for external use and we don’t really recommend it.
There’s no shortage of ways to use the Volta, bounded only by your (and your partner’s) creativity. And the ergonomic grip ring helps no matter which way you choose to use it.
Here’s a quick video by FunFactory of the Volta in action:
Might Not Hit the Spot for Some
The underlying motor in the Volta is actually super powerful – one of the stronger vibes of this size. And the firmness of the silicone does a good job of transmitting those vibrations.
The issue is that the flappy motion ends up feeling quite buzzy, even though the core vibrations are fairly rumbly. That’s why we recommend using the Volta with some added pressure for a more enveloping feel.
This allows for dual-sensations where you get direct vibrations right on your clit, while the lips provide lighter vibrations to your vulva and labia. That said, too much pressure and you lose the fluttery motion and it becomes just a standard clit vibrator (albeit one with really broad vibrations).
It’s a unique sensation for sure – and if you take the time to get it right it can lead to some powerful orgasms. That said, Volta is going to be hit or miss for a lot of folks simply based on the fact that it feels and plays so different than your standard vibe. This is both a pro and a con to us: it feels different – and it generally feels really good – but it definitely takes a bit of experimenting and getting used to.
The Silicone on the Volta is generally nice, but it does seem to suck up lube and dry out faster than a lot of other silicone toys. You’ll want a lot of high quality, water-based lube when using this tongue vibrator, and you’ll want to be sure to reapply often.
Volta also isn’t the quietest vibrator out there – the motor itself is on the louder end of the spectrum for a vibe of this size, especially on the higher settings. But that’s also because those higher settings are damn powerful. It has 6 pre-programmed patterns and 6 intensity levels, and the higher levels are strong.
The downside is you only get about 45 – 60 minutes of play on a full charge, and it takes several hours to charge between sessions. Not a problem if you’re diligent about plugging it in after use, but there’s nothing worse than your power vibe dying in the middle of a session if you forgot to give it a fresh charge.
Oh, and the Volta is waterproof so that means you can take it in the shower or even bathtub for some added fun.

What may a pro for some is a con to others: we like the Volta with broad clit and labia pressure, but this user found that use-case to be a downside compared to letting the lips do their fluttery thing:
If you love this way the lips feel, it’s going to be your absolute best friend:
That said, there’s really no way to know if you’ll love it until you try it…
FunFactory Volta: Final Review
If you’re a fairly experienced vibrator user and are looking for something different and unique to spice up your sex life, the Volta is a fantastic option. It’s powerful, versatile, and different. There are some mild downsides (a bit loud and flappy, and the silicone needs regular lubing), but all in all it’s a great vibe that can deliver some great orgasms.
We wouldn’t recommend it as a first vibrator due to the above, but it’s certainly a breath of fresh air among a sea of bullets and g-spotters. It’s a toy that rewards some patience, creativity, and getting in touch with your own anatomy. So there is a bit of a learning curve to the Volta – but you’ll be well rewarded once you get over that hump.
